Trek Romania 2010 will mark our eighth annual fundraising hike in the mountains of Maramures. We're offering you the chance to trek through fantastic scenery, visit traditional rural villages and raise money to support the Romanian Foyer Trust in our work with disadvantaged young people in Satu Mare county, Romania.

In September 2002, the Romanian Foyer Trust opened the first Foyer in Romania. We have up to 18 young people living safely in our Foyer house in Satu Mare, all of whom recently left local State-run Children's Homes.
Our Romanian staff act as parents, friends and mentors to the young people. They 
teach and give support in everyday living skills and social behaviour, training for work and help with choosing, finding and keeping a job.
Without our help, these young people are in danger of resorting to a life on the streets with no chance of a secure future. A place in the Foyer, and a little love and security, costs £1800 a year for each young person. Since we opened, we have worked with 54 young people as Foyer residents, 34 have moved on into further education or employment and over 20 ex-residents take active part in the moving-on programme.
But we have to raise all the money ourselves to keep this project going and that's why WE NEED YOU.
